b'Italians in general love fish, but Sicilians have an almost religious admiration for all food that comes from the sea. I took this photo at a pescheria (fish shop) in the small village of Mondello, near Palermo. I was fascinated by the bounty and the freshness of the fish. Furthermore, it looked like a painting, as if every individual piece had been placed just so to make it look perfect. We were all taken by this spectacle. My mom, of course, cooked branzino (striped sea bass) for dinner that night.24'
